Condition and Description: Octavo, rebound in period-style half calf leather and marbled paper boards, tooled in gilt and in blind, black morocco spine label, raised spine bands, deckle edges, marbled endpapers, 435 pp. Contains a series title page for Bentley’s Standard Novels and two pages bearing engraved illustrations, the frontispiece and a vignette title page. An additional printed title page follows, amounting to three total title pages, as issued. Securely bound. Contents mildly foxed, mainly the preliminary and terminal leaves. Small ink stain to the fore-edge of the title page, extending to p. 1. A portion of leaf R3 supplied in facsimile. Marginal tissue repairs to a handful of leaves. Pages tanned and with occasional handling marks, minor staining, and thumbsoiling.
